My objective is for you to acquire lifelong skills while you are learning interesting and challenging things about physics. I want you to improve in your ability to:
· Be curious, open, persevering and skeptical as you learn new things
· Organize information to find connections and relationships
· Weigh evidence and use reliable evidence to defend an argument
· Consider different viewpoints and imagine alternative explanations
· Communicate your ideas clearly and thoughtfully, orally and in writing.
· Work effectively in groups and with people of varying cultures and backgrounds.
· Solve complex problems in creative and effective ways
· Gain an understanding of the nature of science and an appreciation of science.
· Acquire the skills and background knowledge in science that will allow you to apply that knowledge to your own life.
Absence & Tardiness
· I expect you to be in your seat when the bell rings, and if late, to quietly take your seat. After the 3rd tardy you will serve detention by AHS school policy.
· When absent, it is your responsibility to find out what work was missed and to make arrangements to make it up. Assignments that have been announced previously will usually be due the day you return. Other work must be made up promptly (usually within a week) to get credit.
· If you will be missing school for a school-sponsored activity, you are expected to make up the work before you leave, unless you have made other arrangements with me first.
Honor Code
On my honor, I have neither given nor received unauthorized aid on this assignment, lab report, etc. I expect you to abide by this code for all your work. Even though you will be working in teams, I expect the work that you do to be your own – a product that is uniquely yours, even if it draws on information from other people and resources. Don't plagiarize.
